Working Days Calculator
Overview
The Working Days Calculator helps you calculate the number of business days between two dates, automatically excluding weekends and holidays. It’s essential for project planning, contract terms, legal deadlines, and any scenario where only business days count rather than calendar days.
Tips
Always clarify “business days” vs “calendar days” in contracts - The difference can be significant. “30 days notice” might mean 30 calendar days, while “20 business days” explicitly excludes weekends and holidays.
Be aware of regional weekend differences - Most Western countries use Saturday-Sunday weekends, but Middle Eastern countries often use Friday-Saturday. Specify which definition you’re using for international work.
Document which holidays you’re excluding - Holiday lists vary by country and can change year to year. List the specific holidays used in your calculation to avoid disputes later.
Watch for holidays on weekends - When a holiday falls on a weekend, don’t double-count it. Some organizations observe the holiday on the adjacent Friday or Monday instead.
Specify inclusive or exclusive boundaries - “Monday to Friday” could mean 4 days (exclusive end) or 5 days (inclusive). Be explicit about whether you’re counting both boundary dates in your calculation.
